Xindicate

Mobile data collection beyond the grid

About Xindicate

Xindicate is a monitoring and evaluation app that conveys your field data and messages between all your staff asynchronously through a private Disruption (Delay) Tolerant Network. It works where there is no wifi or telecom, and it works during disasters when telecom service is down. Your data is secured by strong encryption.

Nile Point has partnered with SenzAgro, an IoT agtech company in Sri Lanka, to integrate our mobile application with their Agricore platform. The integrated solution will allow clients to register farmers, link them with an IoT sensor, and to agro-input suppliers and buyers. The new version is slated for release in mid 2021.

How Xindicate Works

Data collected by any one of your associates in the field is automatically synched via Bluetooth with any other team member’s device every time they are within range of each other.  All data is securely synched in turn until every team member’s device carries it.  The data is thus “daisy-chained” back to the home office, or to a conventional network.

Seamless Integration

Xindicate is designed for organizations with remote teams who regularly collect data offline. Data collected on Android smartphones or tablets is automatically synced between team members’ devices using Bluetooth, and transmitted to the data exchange where M&E staff can review colected data on a web dashboard at the head office.

Offline

Our peer-to-peer networked approach relays data between devices operating completely offline, if required, in regions without reliable communication infrastructure.

Extensible

Our modular architecture allows us to add customized functionality or reporting capabilities to meet your needs.

Enhanced Metrics

Collect more granular data from individual participating in your programs or general surveys.

Security

Data is stored using AES-256 encryption on mobile devices and transmitted via Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol.

Dashboard

Features summary views to show the health of the data, users and system.

Serviceability

Backwards compatibility and simplified maintenance is a priority for us.

f

Customization

We can quickly create custom forms based on your unique use cases.

Monitor devices

The management interface allows you to monitor your field agents’ devices.

Scaleability

You can easily increase user counts and use cases as your project requirements evolve.

White Label

Our application can be customized with your logos and other branding requirements from your organization and donor agency.

Audit trail

Record who entered what, where, when, and report back to your donors.

Collaboration

The Cloud interface allows your donors and project partners to enter and review reported data at multiple levels of access.

Participant Registration

Paperless registration of households and individuals – with photos – shared completely offline with our mobile app.

Track Participant Attendance

Log attendance of individuals or groups at training events using a built-in barcode scanner or name search feature.

Manage Groups

Create a group of clients (farmers, mothers, etc.) and track their progress in your programs. You can also assign leaders and add group members

Manage Distributions

Manage cash, food or other distributions to villages, households, or individuals in remote areas for development or emergency interventions.

Envision your project here

Our application can be customized to your logos and other branding requirements from your organization and donor agency.

We contracted NilePoint to design and develop a mobile data collection platform for registering participants and tracking routine monitoring information for USAID funded DFSA projects.  The platform leverages a delay-tolerant networking (DTN) approach to get the information from the field to the cloud.  It also includes a robust API which we leverage to integrate with our cloud based M&E application.  Based on a recent successful pilot of the mobile platform, we anticipate significant improvements in data collection efficiency and data quality.  Within our organization, there is such enthusiasm about the mobile data collection platform that next year we plan on integrating it with other internal systems to fulfill mobile data collection needs for other business units within Food for the Hungry.

Xindicate is designed to operate across multiple development sectors

Agricultural Development

Xindicate allows agricultural extension workers to collect remote data for development interventions that support smallholder farmers. Whether it’s tracking participation in training events on seed multiplication or collecting info on farmers’ yields, Xindicate allows your extension agents in remote rural areas to collect and relay data for reporting purposes. Our technology can also be adapted to collect data for a wide range of agriculture-oriented use cases such as recording crop sales, report and geolocate insect pest or animal disease outbreak, connect value chain actors, etc.

Health

Xindicate is ideal for community health workers who collect a wide range of data for improved health care in remote rural areas. For example, health agents can record the weight of infants less than 6 months in remote villages to identify potential cases of severe acute malnutrition. Such data can be shared with another connected device to relay data to the Ministry of Health to enroll malnourished babies in a recuperative feeding program. Xindicate can be integrated with web platforms such as DHIS2 that track national health data.

Famine Early Warning

Xindicate can be used to collect famine early warning indicators such as weekly prices of foodstuffs, daily rainfall and middle upper arm circumference (MUAC) of children less than 6 months.

Disaster Response

Xindicate was designed by people who have experience in relief situations such as the 2004 Tsunami in Asia and the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Following a disaster xIndicate can target responses, conduct market analysis, and interface with tools such as the Emergency Market Mapping Analysis (EMMA).

Energy

In a remote green field project Xindicate’s delay tolerant network data exchange can help your team register clients and potential customers for the socioeconomic surveys often required by environmental impact assessments (EIAs). We can also assist you with remote surveys in the data collection process.

Mining

Xindicate can help your team identify and geolocate households in remote areas for environmental impact assessments or remote mineral development surveys.
